#bikeSky
A streetscape under a clear blue sky; flanked by tall trees and a wrought iron fence with pointed, decorative stone columns on the left, and by houses and office buildings on the right, some of which have a crane looming above. The viewer is situated on a bidirectional cycleway, next to the footway on the left; the road next to it is mostly empty save for a single grey saloon car.

You’re calling people replying to you ‘harassment’ and then doing so in number ‘brigading’, neither of which are happening. Try to disagree and be disagreed with without victimising yourself!
edi.bike
I would have gotten into evaporation but if they’re already cynical about monitoring data it’s a harder one to wrap your head around 😅
edi.bike
Feelings posted not on their own, but as a disagreement / response to someone else, also.

Not winning hearts and minds here as usual, but not putting up with that nonsense either way.
edi.bike
Feel free to avoid weighing in on public debate if you don’t enjoy public debate. This isn’t a safe space for your opinion to be left unchallenged, particularly when the real life consequences of how we design our streets can be proven with hard data that doesn’t care about your feelings.
edi.bike
Pfffft not happening here surely. I know we have a lot of dafties but not that many 😅
edi.bike
There’s also a factor here seen in many other similar projects where it takes a number of years for these things to really bed in, and folk who are vocal about them tend to get used to them and work around them as needed - as does traffic in general.

Good policy isn’t about pleasing everyone.
edi.bike
‘Regardless of studies’ speaks volumes here. I’m not interested in the opinions of people who don’t believe monitoring and evidence that leads this kind of policy.

It works all over the world and Leith is not a special case, folk just hate change!

I keep waiting for this render to finish loading… ⏳

We've began work on our £3.5m transformation project of Queensferry High Street and the town centre.

These improvements will create a safer, more accessible, and vibrant environment for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
Digital visualisation of the project improvements.

Studies of LTNs show that in the majority of cases, traffic is not displaced only to boundary roads but a lot of it is regionally displaced as folks find another route that works for them: in short, they are typically successful in their aims rather than only moving traffic to their perimeter.
edi.bike
Adding to car journey time is only a problem if everyone insists on using their car. What filters provide in terms of reducing through traffic is a far greater gain for air quality than is gained by letting vehicles have free reign.

It's funny as fuck to me, someone holding up Rotten as a textbook punk when in his old age he's just an irrelevant butter salesman with bad politics
edi.bike
Thicko policies for everyone!
edi.bike
Commiserations, that looks unbearable!

Is this the ‘behaviour change’ councils and government are chasing after?

I’m off to Aberdeen again this week to visit my friend who is very unwell. Normally i would cycle to the station, leave my bike there, and cycle home. As transport police will no longer investigate any bike thefts i will now drive to the station and take up a parking space for 14hrs.

Yes - assume for England only as delivered through ATEngland

Hi @jackrmcaldwell.bsky.social - any update on the works restarting? And please can bollards be installed to protect the pedestrian area and cycle lane as part of this project? The parking is getting worse by the day. @spokes.org.uk @edi.bike

Roseburn Link wins award, date for @infrasisters.bsky.social Glow Ride, and a bicycle beset by barnacles from @wolct.bsky.social; plus events, route closures & more:

A bicycle is posed on a wet set of concrete steps; it is almost entirely encrusted with barnacles. Another, non-dredged-up bicycle leans against a step in the background.

It's fantastic when you get a glimpse of what a joined-up network looks like. I've done a similar journey using Roseburn Link, CCWEL, Roseburn Park, then up through Baird Drive past the Balgreen Tram stop and along the segregated paths from there? Sort of gives up toward the end but pretty solid.

New ska band name just dropped, I see

I didn't specify whether the screeching was coming from the Audi or the Chicken, mind 😅
edi.bike
Hello! Is there a link or source for news of the delays, any public information at all?
edi.bike
No, but chicken licken was seen screeching away from the scene in a white Audi
