Not really. I mean citizens of these areas which were made up of native people as well as descendants of settlers from Spain, etc. Mexicans living there would not all be native people.

Even without FN ancestry, for the large part of the southwestern US many Mexican American families have connections to those places that pre-date that land becoming part of the U.S. (yet another reason racial profiling is nonsensical).
