Super Mario Sunshine is the only 3D Mario platformer in which Mario gets tired of hanging from a ledge. After 17 seconds of holding on, he will start shaking uncontrollably, and let go 3 seconds later. In the other platformers, he can hang from ledges indefinitely without issue.

Mario Kart Arcade GP contains unused early character portraits that come in "normal" and "hurt" variations. Curiously, Toad's "hurt" portrait is identical to his normal one, making him appear to either be unbothered or particularly good at hiding his emotions.

Nintendo of Europe's official 1998 German guide for Yoshi's Story depicts White Yoshi as being highly religious. He also states that his constant words of admonition of the other Yoshis' sinful behavior caused them to abandon him.
White Yoshi's bio in the German official guide for Yoshi's Story: Grüß Gott, ihr Lieben. Na, sehe ich nicht schick aus? Und so elegant? Doch nicht nur mein Fell ist weiß, auch meine Seele ist rein wie ein Babypopo. Scheinbar bin ich allerdings der einzige Yoshi, der getreu den Worten des Herrn lebt. Deshalb muß ich nicht selten ein mahnendes Wort an die anderen Schäfchen richten. Die lassen sich manchmal nämlich zu gar schändlichem Tun verleiten. Leider hören die anderen eigentlich nie auf mich, ganz im Gegenteil, sie haben mich sogar irgendwo auf der Insel versteckt. Dabei wollte ich ihnen doch nur erklären, daß ich das Licht gesehen habe... Translation: God bless you, my dears(1). Well, don't I look fancy? And so elegant? But not only is my fur(2) white, my soul is also as clean as a baby's bottom. Apparently, I am the only Yoshi who lives faithfully to the word of the Lord. That is why I often have to give words of admonition to the others in the flock. They sometimes allow themselves to be tempted to do rather shameful things. Unfortunately, the others never listen to me; quite the opposite, they even hid me somewhere on the island. And I just wanted to explain to them that I had seen the light... (1)Traditional Bavarian/Austrian greeting, literally "may God greet you". Used in these regions as a general greeting, instead of "good day". Likely used here to underscore the White Yoshi's religious nature. (2)In this guide, all Yoshis repeatedly refer to themselves as having fur. Current Nintendo materials state that Yoshis do not have fur. It appears to have two nested hourglass-shaped structures that were sculpted by a whirling pair of stars in a binary system. The result is that both stars are embedded in a flat disk of gas stretching between them. This belt of material constricts the outflow of gas so that it only speeds away above and below the disk. The result is an hourglass-shaped nebula. The bubbles of gas and dust appear brightest at the edges, giving the illusion of crab leg structures. These "legs" are likely to be the places where the outflow slams into surrounding interstellar gas and dust, or possibly material which was earlier lost by the red giant star.
