The European Federation of Building and Woodworkers (EFBWW) represents the trade unions in construction, wood, forestry, and building materials in Europe.
Limiting subcontracting is necessary and urgent.⛓️

⏰Time to act!

🟢Myth: Subcontracting is necessary in a competitive market.

🔵FACT: Subcontracting for expertise not available in-house can be legitimate. Subcontracting to evade liability and exploit workers is not.

⏰It's time to act!

🟡Myth: It’s not up to the EU to legislate on this.

🔵FACT: The current fragmented approach does not work. In an integrated and social Internal Market we need common standards: we need a Directive that limits subcontracting.

Limiting subcontracting chains is necessary and urgent.⛓️

⏰It's time to act!

🔴Myth: Limiting subcontracting will harm SMEs.
🔵FACT: Limits are necessary to prevent unfair competition and social dumping. They create a fairer playing field for SMEs.

✊Today is World Day for Decent Work. But for millions, there’s little to celebrate.

Long and complex subcontracting chains lead to the exploitation of vulnerable workers. When unscrupulous companies lower the price, it’s the workers who pay the highest price, sometimes with their own lives.
