We found Eggsy Pony when he was a foal, he had been abandoned by his owners due to his locking stifles

THREAD.

3 years ago, with no warning, a brilliant orange farm cat wandered over from the draughty barn where he had been living, in rural Cornwall, and decided he wanted to live with us instead.

We decided to call him Jim.

This is the first photo I took of him, on that night: December 1st, 2022.

Labour is crushing Britain's farmers

One of the things people don’t realise is that only about 15% (at most) of food price paid at the till goes to the farmer in the most ‘advanced’ versions of this food system

There is some evidence that on average farmers actually subsidise such system with their free or sub cost labour
“92% of [UK] farmers think the greatest threat to the long-term growth of British farming is the government.” While farmers go bankrupt, “Food prices have risen by around 37% in the last five years.” Who is this serving? Without small farmers, we have no food, no nature & environment, no security.

Almost certainly the best photo I will ever take from the southern edge of a moor at sunset as a vehicle progresses downhill towards me and the cold winter sky gathers its Byzantine thoughts.

No snow for us just a vile, cold, wet day with temperatures apparently feeling like -4 though with full bellies and thick coats, or warm rugs, we're not feeling that.

Just keeping my head down whilst all around me seems to be going to hell in a handcart, crazy few days at the livery yard, no doubt there'll be some interesting things to write in my diary over the next few days, but for now I'm eating!

Message to our friends from our hoomom. If able plz consider donating to a group that provides food for the beloved pets of people struggling right now. Our mum grew up very poor & remembers how hard it was to feed the family & their pet. Share some kindness. Love you all 🩷

Rolling into a new week, have a good one!

As you can probably tell this is an old pic, today we have mud and not so much grass, and it's going to be showery.

Has anyone with arthritis in their fingers tried using something like this? I'm struggling to open/shut my hot water bottle... so looking for something to make it easier.

Already have lots of advice for the arthritis itself, just need an easier-to-open hot water bottle, or a gadget to help!

You can call this "folk horror" but the truth is, it's not really scary, and it's definitely not horrible. It's fun and creative. The only real fear I felt while I was there was when I was looking at the huge threatening St George's flag flying from the hilltop above: www.tom-cox.com/nothing-cold...
