@sophiescamps.bsky.social good on you for working to limit junk food ads. Unfortunately a consequence of our profit-oriented neoliberal economy. I'm afraid children's health doesn't compete with the supposed right of anyone to make money from almost anything. This has to change.

#Senateqt It is good that Senator Payman remains in the Senate. Otherwise it would seem that Australians are not at all concerned about the very disturbing death toll and destruction in Gaza. It would be very easy for the duopoly to agree to ignore awkward situations like this.

#qtSenate Now they're arguing about the Nature Positive laws and why they didn't go through. The Greens 'Political Party' are being blamed when it seems that someone (Premier Cook? Woodside? More minor miners?) leaned on Albo, upsetting Tanya, to can Nature Positive. We now have Nature Negative!

#Senateqt, the Head Prefect and Ms Big Hair are obsessed by a label (anti-Semitism) as temperatures rise, the rains fall and flood in Qld, while in Vic, WA and Tas forests burn. The Coalition seem not to care and Government says it cares but won't do enough. Is anyone in charge? Santos, Woodside?

In #qt, @adambandt asked the PM essentially why big corporations pay no tax, which I'd also like to know, to be answered by a diatribe from @albomp.bsky.social about tax cuts for lower paid workers. It's a silly game they play at times. Not informative, more like student debating as a sport.

It's Alice in wonderland! In response to Trump's irrational imposition of tariffs on other countries like Canada, Penny Wong says we must strengthen and deepen our links with the US. For God's sake, Penny, this raving maniac is in charge for 4 years. Get as far away from him as you possibly can!

Shouldn't we stop this "one in a hundred years" description of floods? Climate change makes such historical descriptions meaninglessness and their use evades the role of climate change in drastically changing our climate and weather norms.

When Musk goes too far, even for Trump, will they call it "Elongate"?

Albanese answering questions on #7.30 about the environment tells us that Tanya Plibersek has been doing a great job. Yes and No. Her good deeds are negated by all the coal and gas mines she has approved. I believe the climate crisis is urgent. Labor sees it as just another area to beat the Libs on.

Look, we need to build solar and wind energy production at record speed for a long time, but we also need to bring consumption - of everything - to a level where planetary boundaries are not broken when EVERYONE has an equal share.

It’s hard to see it realized without some form of rationing.

This is absolutely BRILLIANT.

The Finnish gov knows that educating its kids to critically think so they can understand the concept of actual fake news will protect its democracy.

The Aust gov needs to consider adding this type of leaning to the Aus curriculum.
