I agree they’re not going to end your research efforts, but they provide the basic outline of every contract, every significant change order, and identify threads to pull on. Talking to people is a big part of how I work (you, too) and those reports help me get a lay of the land before interviews.

Copenhagen's deep metro stations have a very lean fire evacuation strategy.

Most egress capacity is provided by the 8 escalators (4 paths x 2 levels) normally used for vertical circulation with a single additional enclosed fixed stair at one end of the platform.

“The forced technology transfer agreements meant to prop up China’s state-owned automakers instead robbed their need to invest in their own innovative capacities. China’s automative successes come from companies like privately owned BYD, which had no foreign partners…”

Picked up Dan Wang’s Breakneck. He does not mince words: “Beijing enthralls not because it is nice but because it isn’t….Really, everything that can go wrong in urban design has gone wrong in Beijing.”

But why is Stephen taking Amtrak instead of metro-north????

Can’t say I have any useful thoughts, but I also noticed it and commented on it.

I’m hoping this will be the first of a number of reports I run by practitioners writing about a specific issue or set of issues they’ve encountered in their work related to building codes and other technical standards. If you’re interested in talking about writing something, please reach out!

Today, the Center for Building published “Beyond Zoning” by John Zeanah, Memphis’s Chief of Development and Infrastructure. He chronicles the non-zoning barriers faced by Malone Commons, a low-rise multifam/mixed-use project, and how they worked through them www.centerforbuilding.org/publication/...

Do other things poll like this? We support policy idea x but we also don’t necessarily think we should enact policy x?

Making it all the more bizarre. The law seems pretty clear on this.

Do you think Adams is encouraging this? It seems remarkable that someone who has been indicted and is polling under 10% could have any kind of exit.

He’s managed to secure at least 2 job offers while polling under 10% and being indicted. One job is reported to pay 7 figures. Thats genius level stuff
