I've been saying for years that 2nd Amendment absolutists really do believe that the sacrifice of innocents is necessary to keep the world from collapsing; this was also the view of the ancient Aztecs and Carthaginians, both of whom practiced ritual human sacrifice.

It's tempting to treat "the American right is a death cult" as rhetorical hyperbole, but when you look at e.g. their enthusiasm for executing people who are *clearly* innocent, no actually these people really do just worship and revel in death and murder
