Also, I have trouble figuring out how we could transition into that kind of system. Copyright is an international framework built upon decades of laws and agreements, many people would fight tooth and nail against weakening it. I can imagine baby steps toward less powerful patents, but

Before modern laws, people would copy others without consequences, but that also meant they couldn't really profit from their own ideas. Artists had to live off rich patrons (with some exceptions). Has someone imagined a copyright-less system that doesn't disempower people who are not already rich?

If we remove or weaken patents / copyright, what would prevent small creators from getting ripped off by larger companies? It might give them more power rather than leveling the playing field.
