Lots of new followers lately, so re-intro time!

I'm Elaine, Scottish TTRPG producer by day, mini-painter and v-tuber by night.

I currently work at Rowan Rook & Decard on Heart and Spire, and previously worked at Cubicle 7 on the Warhammer roleplaying games, Broken Weave, and too many other games.

Been reading through Lord Have Mercy Upon Us by @caesar-ink.bsky.social and I’m still obsessed with the index/random encounter table/dust jacket.

Such a clever feature. I long for a bookmark version tho, just I find reading a book with the dust jacket on to be a bit awkward.

Heart scenario design is tricky but fun; you need to keep things absurd but grounded, tragic but wonderful, daft but disgusting. To that end I have written a world-ending adventure which focuses around one (1) bee

HOOK
A decrepit Deep Apiarist approaches the delvers and speaks: the walls between worlds are thinner than ever, and the crimson undoing that splinters the real will soon arise and destroy us all. They press a single bee (very gently) into your hand, casting a rheumy eye around themselves as they do, and beseech you to take this Queen to an empty hive beside Wardstone Nasonov (Heart, pXX) - and from there she will reinforce the wards that sustain the universe. “Worry not,” they croak, “for I will be with you every step of the way,” whereupon they drop dead and a hundred bees swarm out of their mouth and ears.

You hear a shout from across the cavern - “There! They have it!” - and someone opens fire. Someone else returns fire from behind you. It seems like this is a very important bee.

I grew up on a farm. I've been kicked by horses, run over by bulls, beefed it off quad bikes, tumbled head first off hay bale stacks. You name a dangerous thing for a kid to do on a farm and we did it.

But the grain silos??? Those were the one thing that scared the crap out of us. No joke.

It's painfully ironic that the amount of clerical bullshit you have to go through to get ADHD meds is the exact kind of clerical bullshit that most ADHD folk struggle with.

It's equivalent to, 'Ouch, broken leg? Don't worry! We've got some crutches for you at the end of this marathon.'
