Did I see that right that "the biggest left wing streamer" (Hasanabi) just did some animal tortured live on cam with a relaxed demeanor that only speaks of "this is a daily activity for me"?

This is so f'ed up like how has this guy followers that actually think he is a progressive.

Being bad at it is a necessary consequence of fascism. If you find they are actually good at it you might be looking at something new.
olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social
that said: I think the "it's not fascism unless they're good at it" brand of analysis probably isn't the move

You know, you see these articles about the cumulating effects of COVID and it's really bad but locally you have to discuss with people that say "if it's an epidemic, there is no need for protection anymore".

Nobody has Long COVID, but everybody has brain fog, cognitive decline and memory loss. I talk about the overwhelming scientific evidence that COVID damages the brain, and the overwhelming social unwillingness to acknowledge it in my latest:

When Will the Lion Concern Himself
Joking memes make light of the uncomfortable reality: everyone's got a little of that post-COVID brain damage these days

Not remembering this specific scam, but yeah, the peace movement is absolutely into creative worldbuilding (not just pseudo science, understanding of power blocks and hero-stories for autocrats and so on).

It feels like this overshadows any inner-german conversation about the situation in gaze

It's unfortunate that due to germany's unique situation of a left wing cluster that isn't inherently hostile to Israel, germany's (from my perspective) equally unique brand of pro palestine activism stays unrecognised as an outlier. It would be interesting to see its ideological specifics analysed.
elainenoro.bsky.social
With the same argument I've experienced pro palestine activists argue children should have stayed in school, arguing that protecting children from the virus was the attempt of an inherently evil system to keep itself alive through a natural catastrophy.

While the same was the case in german left leaning protests and movements for a while, it was noticably not the case in germany's "peace movement". To a degree that I have personally experienced multiple actors in that movement declare, that covid protections are "statesmenlike" and therefore wrong.
elainenoro.bsky.social
It feels like a stark difference to pro-palestine movements outside of germany that the german pro-palestine movement is brimming with covid-denialism or worse.
In my perception the pro-palestine movement in the US was for a long time very aware of Covid and practived protection.

In reality of course there is a lot of things to produce which aren't and this work could instead produce these things.

And of course, advertisement often forces an additional middlemen in between production and consumer. Someone who wants to get paid without producing anything.
elainenoro.bsky.social
On a global scale advertisement increases the average time *a worker* has to work to produce a ware. If it wouldn't destroy our free time (and therefore devalue our work again) we might think it a good for *the worker*.

The issue with every hardware company pivoting to ads is your purchasing power doesn't go up from it.

Social media CEOs will be like "you believe in decentralization? That pales in effectiveness to my strategy, building a community safe for queers" and then not build a community safe for queers
elainenoro.bsky.social

Furthermore, truly nobody is fighting the use of genAI in usecases like "production line planning" or "molecule folding prediction"; but rather certain uses and importantly, exactly those that further monopolization and wage theft are fought against.
elainenoro.bsky.social
While tone and vitriol absolutely are astonishing in this, one of the main mistakes the post makes is to imagine "genAI" as "technological progress". That's a surreal assumption. Many technologies actually fail and many others end up being used in wildly different fields than initially expected.
elainenoro.bsky.social
This is extra disturbing after winning in a landslide and still saying "we have to move right to win" ... Like as if you weren't allowed to do politics as government

Idk, but to me the main sign that the “AI” bubble is about to burst is that it’s now advertised as an investment to consumers.

If you’re a big investor, how do you unload your high risk assets that might collapse soon? You make the plebs buy them off of you.

This is the dump part of “pump & dump”
