Feds rolled up en masse to a DC neighborhood right before a community event that caters to young adults and kids.

It happens every Friday.

It’s called Guns Down Friday.

It’s led by a veteran and one of the strongest people I know.

She returned from war to help the community she grew up in.

I say this every time something of note happens in DC and inevitably someone gets mad at me:

It’s not just “where the government is.” It’s a real place with real people living in it. Reducing it to some playground of the elite and powerful is inaccurate and often racist
the dc metro area has a heart and a soul and it beats like so many others but the rest of this country treats us like our lives are just some background character for the Real Actors that are Politicians for some reason.

tell that to the families living in wheaton when this comes to them.

For folks not familiar with DC, here is a map of the stations National Guard is at. Red is where they reported they’d be, purple is where they have also been seen.

Notice anything?

Decided to wander out and was confused when I got to Mount Pleasant. Heard people beating on something and realized it was a small group of people beating on pots because it’s 8pm. Honestly, don’t see that shit taking off.

I had told friends and acquaintances that I had hoped that Trump would cause economic issues out of the gate before the inauguration. It's not that I'm rooting for economic disaster but that it seemed inevitable and better to get to it sooner rather than later.

Best album cover art? Go! My vote is for the original cover of Tad's "8 Way Santa".

The whole issue with Gretchen Whitmer just brings up the issue with a segment of the party who are so wed to trying to traingulate that they're now trying to position themselves as centrist fascists.

Someone should project Pasolini's "Saló" onto the White House.

Also, as someone who grew up in an analog world, dealing with people face to face is pretty awesome. You'd be pretty amazed what you can do just by creating spaces and community. Like people actually created national networks 40 years ago with paper, xerox machines, and a phone.

I feel like we're fighting two generations who watched "All in the Family" and identified with Archie Bunker. Fuck this clown car.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dick Cheney come out of retirement to stage a coup at this point. I'm not rooting for it but just saying...

The fact that they're going to a different agency every day tells you this is a small number of people. They're not showing up with armed escorts. It would be fairly easy to disrupt what they're doing here.

Perhaps states should approach Elon Musk as if he were a nation state and declare war on him.

Was digging through some stuff tonight and found a set list I have from my first Ex show (1997?). Managed to see them quite a few times over the years and always a powerful live band. Memories from a less complex time but relevant to the era that we live in.

The problem with lawsuits and legal challenges as the only outlet for opposition is that the legal system is slow which renders it ineffective against and imminent threat. Meanwhile the Trump administration will continue to move forward at a rapid pace to manufacture more crises.

Also a reminder to people that Jeff Bezos has a DC home, the Heritage Foundation has an office building, and the Conservative Partnership Institute bought up a block of Pennsylvania Avenue where it has offices and serves as an umbrella organization for groups that are responsible for this.
