Seeing this in my research on parents with hospitalised children too - Lady Mayoress says that if only women would commit themselves to children and husband as she did then hospital admissions would plummet. At the same time wealthy women running linen circle and knitting circle for hospital...
This was the argument put to female lawyers as well.

But there is a good PhD out there on the banning of women from work from the 1870s - 1940s. Because there was a big thing about what was considered a job for a woman both throughput the classes.

Thought for a while now that there's a market for *article* length intro texts on topics for UGs. I see a lot of queries like this that *should* have a good answer but don't - key texts are books whose chapters don't always stand alone & we turn to podcasts or interactive websites as alternatives.
Syllabus help: Looking for an article about eugenics history that can help introduce students (especially upper level undergrads) to the history of eugenics in the 19th-20th c in the US.

It’s for a class where students’ main competencies are mostly not humanities/social sciences.

Suggestions?

Right. My students working two part time jobs and/or having an hour and a half commute to uni because they have to live at home due to the cost of student accommodation lack drive and vigour. Sure thing, Peter. The UK Govt still haven't a clue about the realities of universities today.

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

I’m keen to feature more Early Career Researchers. Their work might not otherwise be publicised to a wide audience. Do you know anyone who might like to be in the column?
