Fascinating to discover how many of you have lifestyles, unimaginable to me, where you need more than one (ten year old, still half full) bottle of vanilla extract. (I don't really bake so...)

For reasons I’ve ended up with a bunch of vodka minis that i’ll never drink. Other than penne a la vodka, are there any dishes you make that can use this spirit? Please, only reply if you’ve a specific dish name or recipe, I cannot do cooking based on vibes or food-genre suggestions w/out specifics

OK so tesco locally isn't offering covid stand-alone (I already have my flu booked in so don't want both). Has anyone in the Birmingham area not eligible for NHS treatment got the covid vacc for <£90? A lot of indie pharmacies are hinting it's cheaper but not advertising price online....

I got vaxxed today at Tesco. Tesco! Walked past some broccoli and some crème fraiche and some pork pies and some bread and biscuits and booze and kitchen roll, and into a small room where some dude stuck two needles in my arm in exchange for money and then I bought some ice cream and went home.
hpsvanessa.bsky.social
Oh that’s genius, I’m absolutely trying that.
hpsvanessa.bsky.social
Fascinating! I’m pretty good at pastry & have never seen a recipe with vodka in…
hpsvanessa.bsky.social
I already have! That’s why I’m asking for cooking recipes, I’ve made all the flavoured/syrup stuff i can ever need.

I can't do that, as I said in the post.

yeah, I've been trying the local pharmacies but none of them show prices until after you've booked - that's why I'm asking for specific local advice on the prices.

Interesting, we can't get the covid separately locally, only the bundle of both.

This and the rat-at-al jazera post… once someone ignores comments telling them it’s fake they’re showing who they are. Do block, but you should also report as misinformation to bsky’s mod service first.

Looks like another messy day on the trains but once again the disruption bot’s random image picker is providing a fascinating distraction. Where does it source its images and why….

Today (date), the Slender-billed Curlew was declared extinct. The first bird extinction on mainland Europe in 500 years — on our watch. Extinction is final. No going back. Think about that.

Particularly like this naming pattern: so here’s tall Ray, short Pete, bald Bob… and that is shit-head Steve.

@lizneeley.bsky.social's newsletter tonight: emails went out late on Friday notifying CDC workers that they had been laid off. "If the reporting is correct, the layoffs include nearly the entire staff of Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report."

#histmed people will immediately know what this means.

hey so I just this second realised that the big bad for pro-AI boosterism is of course fossil fuel companies who are supporting this tech because the obscene energy demands of data centres make their business remain viable. I am so slow; hat tip to whoever is writing this season of Humans:Extinction
