We report about the corner of the sky where the sunset happened. Ultimately, the sunset was happening everywhere at that time, but the stratocumulus in this corner were carrying all of the blaze of the day. We cling to the warmth in the light because this is what we do best.

Why buy Persona 6 and sink 95 hours into it only to be greeted with Persona 6 Emerald that adds 20 hours of new story, a new party member, and a whole expanded ending or something a year later?

We report when the dawn chorus is at its loudest, even over the morning traffic. All edges of the world are still blurry, whether it is from our sleep-filled eyes, or the simple fact of the dim light. It is chilly, and we are not all the way present, but we feel a little warm.

I started playing the Daughters of Ash Dark Souls mod and the changes are enough to feel fresh again, but boy is it artificially difficult quite often.

Anyway, why not check my online shops for my old Dark Souls book? Linktr.ee/detectiveken

We report: at last, the chaos in the sky accurately represents the chaos of the weather we have been observing lately. We reckon we shall meet maximum entropy at any moment. This, at least, is something we know of November, a device of constant, unexpected changes.

while sometimes the analysis is a little too one sided when world romance/genre fiction and queer romance/genre fiction isn't considered, i really liked the overall thesis about what romantasy's popularity says about American culture. it's a remarkably good piece
“The heroines of romantasy are flicked, nuzzled, ridden, throttled, bitten, pulled, plowed, hit, filled, soaked, and — here’s a Maas favorite — shattered.” Daniel Yadin examines the genre taking over American publishing in a new piece from Issue Sixteen.

if i were to edit it, i would add that you see this type of escapist media popping up across various formats and cultures - American romantasy exists for the same reason as transmigration webnovels and isekai anime and dungeon crawling RPG manhwa. End stage capitalism.

it exists for the same reason that video games are a place to hang out now rather than just a thing to consume and get through - they're places to escape to because the real world has gotten worse and worse, especially for young people.
