Been a bit since I posted about my daily October poems; this week I started doing sci-fi/fantasy poems like an elegy to a fallen knight elizabethdoman.com?p=950 or a cinquain on manlfunctioning spaceships elizabethdoman.com?p=929.
There are poems on colors, moving, and a few more sff ones there too.

Today's poem was an ode to my hands. Losing use of them is one of my biggest fears 😅 so this might have been inspired by the fact that I was supposed to see a doctor for possible carpal tunnel today. (appt shifted to next week)

I like yesterday's sonnet about clocks; today's poem was a quick haiku offering of "I ran out of time." Still enjoying my poem-a-day challenge for the month I gave myself.

I should stop doomscrolling. And you should read my poem! Second in my effort to do a poem a day for October! It's about the most cliched topic. Love? No, don't be silly, it's writer's block.

The youngest, watching me play games with husband's family online and hearing the associated banter:
"Why don't you give your king a heart?"
"Nope, I already gave my heart to daddy."
"So you don't have a life anymore?"
No, because I died laughing.

The kids started joking about feeding the toy turtle the 4-y-o got Grandma for her birthday. If it wasn't fed, they told us a turtlepocalypse would come.

Never one to leave well enough alone, or for that matter discourage silly worldbuilding in my kids..

With the demise of Joann's, I'm going to share a few online resources I've found. It's by no means exhaustive, but hopefully it helps folks find what they need. 🧵

Today my kids told me the "cleaning fairies" would help with the chores in exchange for popsicles. Later, I gave the kids popsicles but told them to pass them on to the fairies.
The 6-y-o told me "Oh, they don't need them." I had to tell her we DO NOT reneg on deals to the fae. Or else.

If you see this, post a dragon or few from your portfolio 🐉

This is my fairy rogue's familiar, Magpie, and a cockatrice I did with a scheme in mind. Hopefully it'll show up again before too long...
There's also my profile dice dragon.

I'm preparing to delete my account because someone used it to buy iTunes cards and when I said it was fraudulent they denied my claim and said it was in line with my usual charges even though I only use it on rare occasions to send friends money. It's so insecure.
PayPal is updating their ToS to let themselves give your data to merchants starting in November and they're certainly banking on people not knowing to opt out, SO to opt out before they start:

Turned in my mail-in ballot today! Just wanna brag. Now I can ignore all the political mail and texts! You know, like I hadn't made up my mind before they all came in.

Today at bedtime my 6-year-old told me her koala bear family is stargazing together, looking up to find the constellation of their grandma who is dead and that's all they have left of her.

I find it sweet, melancholy, and mildly bemusing.
(I'd like to point out both of her grandmas are fine.)

Which reminds me of the absolutely stellar comic with him and Thor.

I find myself caught in a great conflict. I must either apprehend or protect the chosen one, to either resurrect an entire species or stop an oncoming war. My decision is withheld until I see how the opposing advocates brush their teeth.

I'm so proud of my kids. They're making up lore.
