“They always show you the first one, like a giraffe, a tiger, or this, or that — a whale. ‘Which one is the whale?’ Okay. And that goes on for three or four [questions] and then it gets harder and harder and harder.”

Trump: "They have Jasmine Crockett -- a low IQ person. AOC is low IQ. Have her pass the exams I decided to take when I was at Walter Reed. They're cognitive tests. Let AOC go against Trump. Let Jasmine go against Trump. The first couple questions are easy -- a tiger, an elephant, a giraffe ... "

Jesus. Absolute disaster. A scarecrow should have been able to beat someone so clearly unable to distinguish our friends from our foes on the international stage but the parties couldn't even field that
Called it at 9:13, which is a new record I think. Connolly by 60%+. Spoiled votes may outpoll Heather Humphreys.

Weirdly, #Swift albums were a lot more relateable when they had fictional narrators rather than a billionaire settling scores and/or bragging. Fictional murderers got a lot more sympathy from me than this childishness

If one shutdown might be regarded as misfortune and twice looks like carelessness, then thrice under Donald Trump alone is surely evidence of terminal lunacy
#US
Imagine if the EU institutions bungled their budget-setting process so badly that all staff would be placed on leave without pay. You'd never hear the end of it! But oh hey it's America so just one of those things.

Absolute embarrassment that anyone who wants Ireland to continue supporting Ukraine and to stand up to Putin should rank dead last the candidate endorsed by Labour and the Greens

I was at "what time is this stupid summit at" levels of anxious today, God knows what comes out of this meeting

Worried about this stupid summit and surprised that European leaders don't seem to be.
Trump is too unpredictable for this level of calm from them
Vg piece

"For Zelenskyy, it is the biggest diplomatic challenge of his six years in office. He will be stuck outside the Alaskan room where decisions on Ukraine’s fate could be made by the man who invaded his country and the man once impeached over dealings with it."

Weakened at home, the Ukrainian president must try to shape the Alaska talks from afar as battlefield losses mount

The author of the famous document graduated from high school in 2017, so must be about 26, and is now a “senior adviser” in the State Department. America, land of opportunity, eh?
On 27 May, an official document, The Need for Civilizational Allies in Europe, calling for regime change in European countries was published, written by a senior adviser for the Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor in the US State Department, writes Caroline de Gruyter.

I know this quote is the subtitle specifically because of the absurdity but I still feel like some editorialising was warranted: "he says, absurdly, in an interview" or "despite publicly doing so" or the like.
When confident nobody will dare say the obvious, brazenly denying reality is a power flex!

Genuinely struggling to understand how the US finds such morons for their leadership. They could have picked any child from Florida to Texas over the age of 8 and found someone with more qualifications than this guy

Leo XIV is a disappointingly traditional name but I think that "Francis" left big shoes to fill in many ways

Americans are focusing on the recklessly incomptent handling of state secrets.

Europeans should be focusing on the "loathing" and disdain for "PATHETIC" allies.

The US Vice-President argued against doing something because it helped Europe; the WH countered that they could use it to "extract" cash

Ukraine is Europe!
We stand by Ukraine.

We will step up our support to Ukraine so that they can continue to fight back the agressor.

Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge.

We all know the situation. The aggressor is Russia. Ukraine are a nation under attack.

I think we were all right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago, and to continue to do so.

If European voters were braver, legislators would be requiring citizens to sign up for the reserves and indicate their readiness in the event we do need to rapidly mobilise. This exchange is infuriating and terrifying.

For Ukraine? Bad news.
Climate? 👎🏻 📰
Trade? 👎🏻 📰
Energy? 👎🏻📰
Research? Science? 👎🏻📰
The Middle East?👎🏻📰
NASA? You bet!
Weather forecasting? Somehow, also bad news.
