Haha yeah, the race organizers pretty much begged us to abandon our goals and not kill ourselves. It was so bad!

Still mad over the half marathon I ran when it was in the upper 80s and 90%+ humidity. All that training turned into just trying to survive. And then the next day was in the 60s and low humidity! 😭

Imagine what we could accomplish if we dedicated the resources we are plowing into the plagiarism machine to climate change, education, basically ANYTHING else

OpenAI’s planned data centers will use more power than New York City & San Diego use at their peak consumption, combined. More power than the entire nations of Switzerland & Portugal combined. And San Altman’s buddies in this administration have been cutting all of our energy infrastructure upgrades
Sam Altman’s AI empire will devour as much power as New York City and San Diego combined. Experts say it’s ‘scary’ | Fortune
Andrew Chien told Fortune he’s been a computer scientist for 40 years but we’re close to “some seminal moments for how we think about AI and its impact on society.”

Update: if you’re invested in target date funds, maybe not too bad? I have vanguard everything and they already seem like they have a good mix of intl and not too much tech stocks. I just found one fund (I got “adventurous” with part of my 403b) that was 70% tech and swapped that

I barely had the mental power to figure out what to do with my retirement funds to start with 😩 I read a piece that suggested rebalancing to more international. If I can manage that!

I’m sorry 😞 If I see any remote things pop up in my area I’ll send them along

It’s got to be! Even with a massive tortilla I don’t know if I have the coordination to get it in the pan without the whole thing falling apart

this inspired me to try making my own crunch wrap (with TVP instead of seitan) and it was delicious, but boy did my attempt to to shape it in the classic crunch wrap shape not work out. (Also never having had one from taco bell, though, it was good!)

Day 3: little fable sort of thing about a dead tree. Very clearly forgot to write my flash today, realized this while watching RotK, paused the movie just after Pippin sees the white tree in the palantir. Now I can get back to it.

Is there a book club out there just focused on small press books? This is something I always thought would be fun but I have no platform so am scared to start it myself and have it end up like my co-writing group (which dwindled till it was just me at a bar)

Day 2: The girl detective, aging and running an unsuccessful detective business (no longer an ingenue) is haunted by all the crooks she's thrown in jail. 700 words. Might be able to turn this one into something?

I just did something nice for Future Me and preordered Chloe's new collection. You can also give yourself this gift! bookshop.org/p/books/ever...

(I mean, the girl isn’t bad, she’s content with this turn of events. The flash is bad! Which is fine.)

Day 1: A pregnant teenage girl gets mad at her boyfriend and in a Freakier Friday-style turn of events, the next day HE’S the one carrying the baby! Whoops. Without all the hardware to support the baby, it eats all his internal organs and eventually bursts out of his belly Alien-style. This is bad!
