During Fiona Hill's testimony to Congress on Oct 14, 2019, she described how Trump and Putin discussed exchanging Ukraine for Venezuela. The quid pro quo was if Trump refuses to help Ukraine fight off a Russian invasion, Putin would not help Venezuela (a Russian ally) resist a US takeover.

I refuse to give Trump any credit for alleged 4D chess moves. He is an idiot. He's been bankrupted 6 times. He doesn't understand how tariffs work. The world didn't concede or bend the knee. They started dumping US bonds. He folded & rich got richer buying the dip and following shock doctrine.
