Yeah engagement bait literally doesn't work here. And good. Learning to properly interact like human beings all over again after the mess that was Twitter will do society some good.
I've seen some folks saying they aren't getting the engagement they'd like, but you can't just sign up, make one post that doesn't get seen and then dip out.
