Political attacks on higher education will undoubtedly intensify beyond their already heightened levels. Understanding the authoritarian inspirations for those attacks is crucial. Re-upping my recent IHE article on this subject. #EduSky

This morning the Chicago Tribune ran another hit piece claiming we, educators, don’t care about our students—meanwhile we, educators, are creating plans within our school communities to keep our students safe from ICE raids. #edusky #eduskyil

Today's Gardening Advice: Winterberry (Ilex verticillata) provides winter food for birds. People often use the branches in holiday decorations. Some years birds will eat the berries almost immediately in December. Other years they wait until late winter. An excellent adaptable plant. 🌱

Citing the union’s history of opposing apartheid and fighting for justice, UAW president Shawn Fain—who represents 400,000 workers across the country and just won a historic strike—has just called for a ceasefire in Israel and Palestine. THIS is what real union leadership looks like.
