I passed by Funston Elementary in Logan Square, across the street from where people were tear gassed last week. And every corner around the school has an adult keeping watch for dismissal time. 🥹 Times feel bleak but also always reminders all the things people do to help.

CHICAGO MAYOR BRANDON JOHNSON: "We have a federal government that has not only trampled on our constitution, it has declared war on our American cities, and particularly, Chicago ... The very desires that descendants of slaves fought for post-Civil War are all under attack."

U.S. REP. RAMIREZ (D-IL): "Donald Trump, Noem, Hegseth and all those criminals in office, they want to use their power to try to break our spirit. But here with federal workers here in the city of Chicago and our downtown, we know something very clear: that the people united will never be defeated."

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson on the local media's lawsuit against the federal government for firing tear gas canisters and pepper balls at them:

"It's a sad state in America when reporters have to go to court to not get shot at by the federal government."

CTU President Davis Gates spoke to what the CTU knows: when an unlawful force invades our city, Black communities will also be targeted. As Black, Brown and immigrant communities are under attack, our unity and commitment to keep one another safe is the responsibility of all Chicagoans.

That picture needs to be on every light pole in his ward, framed in a heart, so residents know he supports Trump’s brutal and unconstitutional actions in his own ward

This is some bullshit right here, brought to you by the Village of Broadview and the State of Illinois. It’s time for a lawsuit.

A very silly situation. Cops pushing protesters and press out of the free speech zone. Apparently standing at the corner of Beach and Lexington is still fine, though.

Solidarity with Mayor Brandon Johnson. Thank you for fighting for all Chicagoan’s and for standing up to fascism.

Out at Broadview again where more than 30 protesters remain in the free speech zone two minutes after the curfew went in place. About nine ISP officers are in the street.

It comes as a military source confirms to me TX National Guard will deploy here later tonight.

Across Chicagoland today, more kidnappings continue. Immigration agents have taken people from Waukegan, Elgin, Glendale Heights, potentially some other suburbs. In the city proper, feds just snatched someone near Peterson and Pulaski—and earlier today, they grabbed someone from Little Village.

None of these are surprising.

Shocked that Gardiner isn't out there masking up himself with some knockoff tacticool gear from Amazon himself to try to crack skulls.

I hated living under his 45th oversight.

It feels like floor level standards to support your colleague as they demand their civil liberties be protected. All Ald. Fuentes did was ask for a warrant when federal agents were arresting a man.
