That can keep the middle of the screen unobscured like they wanted while being way more functional and legible for the player. It's just a big sticking point for me because it really is the only major flaw with Daybreak I have!

Personally I would move the character status back to the bottom right, we can keep the action menu where it is, and we can even keep the turn bar at the top of the screen just redesign it to look more how this kinda turn bar looks in games like TMS or Octopath Traveler or even Romancing Saga 2!

I understand the intent of laying things out this way, it clears up the center area of the screen to really see more of the action and models without anything getting in the way but I think this was a bad decision, sacrificing the functionality and legibility of the UI for style points

And maybe this is a personal thing, but I do not like that they moved the character status from the bottom corner like it was in Cold Steel to the top corner of the screen. I find it way harder to keep an eye on things or see if I have an ailment compared to all past entries it all looks smaller too

If it wasn't for them pointing out who is going next, I wouldn't even know and it's to the point I stopped bothering to pay attention to it too closely. I can't properly plan turns or react so what's the point? It also just ruins any chance of using S-Breaks to steal turns, a staple mechanic!

Turn order bar being completely non-functional has to be my biggest gripe. It's not even that they moved it from the side to the top of the screen, other games have that and they work just fine (TMS anyone?) but the one in Daybreak is illegible and does not communicate info properly AT ALL

I started the final chapter of Daybreak the other day and this game has been an absolute joy to play I am absolutely in love with it

But I do have a very glaring problem with it

The battle UI is atrocious and the worst on the series
