I think part of the reason people have trouble accepting how openly fascistic the Trumpist movement is, is because they don't use the aesthetics of the 1930's Nuremberg rallies. Rather, it's a knowingly campy simulacrum of those aesthetics, which disarms criticism through the conscious irony of it.
