What a fantastic few days it’s been in Oslo presenting ongoing work on police interviewing. Some excellent discussions, great to see everyone. Very excited for all involved in the project 👇 and what this means for L2 speakers who are interviewed by the police.

I'm very much looking forward to joining the InterAct Research Group (@interactemca.bsky.social) on the 28th of March to talk about 'how ‘vulnerability’ manifests as an interactional asymmetry in police interviews.' I'll be giving an overview of the work so far, then we'll get into some data.

Here, Emma Tennent & I combined calls made reporting domestic violence & abuse to the police in the UK & NZ.

We documented how lockdowns provided a new form of spatial-moral order; previously ordinary activities of coming/going from home took on new moral meanings.
