I’ve just dropped back here on BlueSky 🦋 and hello! It’s been busy!

I post about communication and conversation analysis, and my research on interactions with children, youth justice, and medical encounters.

I also share events at Loughborough University, and my love of fungi and painting. 🍄
Foreground: a fly agaric orange-red mushroom with white spots. Background: British forest in autumn with crunchy dry brown leaves on the floor and blurry trees in the sunshine behind.

Terrific day visiting my alma mater to present our new research project.

On top of that, it has been an absolute pleasure to listen to so many innovative and exciting talks.

#EMCA research in police and legal settings continues to flourish.

It’s the morning after Forensic Conversations and we’ve gathered for a data session. We’re on a deep dive into a 911 call from MA Criminology student Scarlett Vaughan’s recently submitted thesis 👏

Tip for PhD applicants reaching out to prospective advisors: Don’t use an LLM to write these emails. It’s not a great first impression to express your admiration for a recent paper the faculty member published if that paper does not exist.
