That makes a lot of sense...

When I heard about this being made, it kind of flabbergasted me that people would go to this amount of effort (and money) for the subject...

My husband thinks I should have just accepted the invitation.

Pure insanity. No one has ever confused a veggie burger for a beef burger because of the word burger.

Just had a call from someone inviting me to a posh global tech meeting in London to discuss financial markets and AI. It was all very confusing until we established that there's actually ANOTHER Emma Butterworth who's very important in the Bank of England, and they thought I was her 🤣

www.goodreads.com/book/show/56... I know that this collection, and the other in the series this publisher has produced has done extremely well, so it seems like there is actually some kind of market, if they look for it. ❤️

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

I have a degree in social anthropology. Did it lead me to a well paid corporate job? No (though it probably could have). Did it completely change my world view and give me the tools to understand and critique the world we live in? 1000 times yes.

Badenoch and Co see education only as a means to a massive income in some soul destroying career.

Devoid of imagination and the power of knowledge they view life entirely through the prism of the CV.

My advice always is to study what interests you and the rest will follow

Just... Wow. And somehow she managed to identify with the baddies?

Ok so... I'm just supposed to die? I'm 100% behind looking for more sustainable ways to produce medicines, but that's rather different to shaming individuals for using life-saving devices (that there are no alternatives to).

As somebody with asthma who uses inhalers - SHUT THE FUCK UP. THIS ARTICLE IS SHAMING PEOPLE WITH A CHRONIC CONDITION.

"Significantly" My ass. You know what else does? AI Data centers - corporations - cows - asphalt - THOUSANDS OF OTHERS THINGS THAT ARE NOT MEDICINE.

Fuck you - fuck you again.
Inhalers contribute significantly to global warming, study finds
Millions of Americans using inhalers for chronic lung diseases like asthma may be unknowingly contributing to global warming, according to new research.

Wondering how many other classical/film music nerds got into Metallica via S&M with Michael Kamen? 😁

In a thrash mood, how about the greatest thrash album ever made???!!!

Heartening at least that the counter protesters in Bristol MASSIVELY outnumber the very small number of England flag-waving protesters.
emmabmusic.bsky.social
The Tories started it and I always knew that Labour would never roll back the new anti protest powers... And here they are, taking them even further. So continues the march towards greater and greater authoritarianism.

This also isn’t true!!! There is a public consultation NOW OPEN and you can go have your say. Obviously they want to present it as a done deal but it’s not.

I would find it hard to look at myself in the mirror if I didn't at least try to live a lower carbon lifestyle. I know it's not going to solve the crisis, but that's not really the point. I stopped flying 15 years ago - it just felt like something I had to do. Being veggie and not driving are easy.

Hello citizen, in order to keep you safe, we made sure that you have to now give away all your sensitive info to companies that will make no effort to protect it, and will eventually expose it to anyone who breaches the database, but it's all for your safety of course

Interesting research on attitudes towards & use of e-cargo bikes in the UK.

Particularly noteworthy for demonstrating the level of interest in e-cargo bikes nationally and the extent to which they replace car journeys. In a trial in suburban areas over 50% of the distance travelled replaced car use

Hi! Did you know that you aren’t pronouncing axolotl correctly?

Suppression of indigenous languages by the Spanish is one of the Four Wounds of Colonization. This is a small subversion of colonial power you can use!

Axolotl is a Nahuatl word, and it sounds like this:
