I write enterprise software you don't need to care about and stuff about tech and politics you won't read because it's in Romanian.
this movie in particular is such an immerssive and thrilling experience that I can't imagine getting bogged down in debates on whether such and such character is a good revolutionary model.

Beyond the fact that in general wanting every film to be filled only with didactic situations and even characters that don't grow and change is pointless...

Wow, that was much earlier than even the Sad Puppies. Comics really is ahead of the curve for both good and ill.

But I get how this technical possibility can become plausible if you've trepanned yourself online. What I don't get is how can you talk about a comic that just came out, that most people probably haven't had time to read, as if it's already a run.

I've been online long enough to know that she most probably didn't do the things she's accused of, but it's not technically impossible. There's nothing in the comic itself that's actually racist and misogynistic, moreso than the average cape comic, but it's open to interpretation, degustibus.

And very soon, what's plausible inside the group stops having any relation to basic, factual reality. Out of all the maddening things about the GFM discourse las month, people talking about it as a run or even "finally the run is canceled" is very high up there in how immediately dumb it is

The way they reconstruct the "lore" of the characters mirrors the way they reconstruct the sins of the creators by just repeating what someone else said and adding to it not based on anything concrete, but on what's plausible inside the shared impression of that figure.

...and most importantly, the community in the comments and in discords and whatever. Where people pump themselves out in a furor about how evil and toxic so-and-so creator is based on hearsay.

Comics are too expensive and young people are afraid to pirate stuff so their engagement with the medium isn't actually reading the comics, but "researching" the lore by reading fandom pages, watching hours long videos where someone tells you what happens over dozens of issues...

I guess that's why Gillen was saying Snyder was his model back in the Tumblr days. Game recognizes game and Gillen really can't keep that balance. He's either toothless and pandering or just can't help himself (in a good way).

I'm pretty sure there's a much meaner and nastier writer beneath shackled under all the genre fiction workshopism and formulas he crutches himself with because they keep working commercially.

It forced the player to engage with each area and on the game world as whole, instead of just a series of platforms, breakable walls and locked gates.

Haven't yet tried Silksong, but a brilliant thing Hollow Knight did that other games in the genre took ages to catch on was delaying the obvious mobility upgrades. It takes so long to get the double jump and dash-through, but instead you get new (more difficult) platforming options.

I have to get back to the prequel, where they lean into the point-and-click adventure stuff even more.

Michael Burns recently had a very good video about how "the Left" became a meaningless signifier for social media influencers to vague post against.
