The @irishwoodlandtrust.bsky.social has bought 82 acres of Atlantic rainforest, bog, + heath for protection in Connemara, their 14th reserve.

This is absolutely brilliant, and shows the way. How can the Irish state, with all its resources, still not manage to properly protect our national parks???
We did mention we had news?
We've just acquired all of the Sheanadh Gharráin woods east of the Bhoth Loiscthe River in the Connemara Gaeltacht.
35 acres of rainforest awesomeness are now protected, plus 47 acres of space for them to stretch into !

Unless we have experienced similar tragedy it is impossible to understand the pain that has been brought on this family in Galway today. There is no excuse for our roads and streets not being safe for children to walk and cycle along.

Ireland could face fines of up to €26 billion if it fails to achieve reductions in carbon emissions in 2030, which is exactly where we're currently headed.

Paying farmers to rewild could *massively* help, and be a lifeline for our crashing nature. It's just SO obvious.

If we were *really* serious about tackling nature collapse in Ireland (a very big if, I know), what would we be doing?
