IDK why I characterized this as her not saying Phee lied. Did I say this before she finished speaking? Because she totally said Phee lied.

Napheesa Collier talking to Kamala Harris is the Venn diagram of my interests forming a circle.

(And you know Kamala loves a Venn diagram!)

Scoop: Napheesa Collier says "lack of accountability" led her to cancel on WNBA chief

Kate Scott on USA Network. Michael Grady and Candace Parker on Amazon Prime. I’m so curious to see these broadcasts.

It’s fascinating! In situations like that I’m always like “tell me exactly what you’re noticing.”

This announcement and the Amazon Prime announcement are making me actually really curious to watch games on these other networks.

There’s a multiverse version of me that would have done this research.

I went to school for engineering because I saw a PBS special on how Olympic athletes train and I wanted to do that. Choices were made and I did not do all that, but I might have!

I'm working with my college's softball team on player development and you'd be surprised how little research there is on softball pitching mechanics.

Nice to see ESPN quote our New York Times story today.

But the big story here is this sentence:

"According to a report from Deloitte earlier this year, revenues are projected to top $1 billion this year."

If true, WNBA players are getting 2% of revenue!!!

'Beyond repair': Napheesa Collier, Cathy Engelbert and a WNBA teetering on the brink
Amid the WNBA Finals, two of the most powerful people in the game are locked in a contentious battle -- for public opinion, power and money.

“For decades, Silver has complained publicly about the W’s lack of popularity & profitability, all while doing very little to invest in its success. Usually, people who own businesses talk them up publicly…instead the NBA has… treated the league as a burden, essentially tanking its own asset.“
ericamauter.com
All of that, and, I also can’t help but think of all the sponsors who signed with Unrivaled because they wanted to invest in WBB but the NBA kept them from investing in the WNBA.

1) Of course Kamala Harris clocked this as an important thing to talk about. 2) The thinnest silver lining. If we couldn’t have her as president at least we have this. 3) OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG 4) Hell yeah, Phee. 5) New entry in Phee’s answer to “who’s the most famous person you have in your phone?”

Napheesa Collier explains why she wrote the statement criticizing WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert in a conversation with former VP Kamala Harris at #UnreasonableConversation in LA.

If Phee hasn’t gotten fined yet, she’s probably not gonna be, right?

Wondering if the fact that the WNBA and its players are in the middle of collective bargaining actually legally precludes a fine.

This was outstanding.

Okay Andrew with a whole labor economics and history lesson!

I’m also kinda tired of the assertion that there’s a conflict of interest for Phee and Stewie as Unrivaled cofounders, but this context makes it make a different kind of sense.

What may be good for the WNBA may no longer be good for women’s basketball.

Andrew hits the ISO on why a conflict of interest may actually help the sport and all its superstars grow. youtu.be/xTmquHDjxAo

Given all those things, I’m just going on vibes. And that keeps switching all the time.

I’m very slightly leaning PHX, but, meh.

We were all giggling over how players didn’t answer the phone when Cathy called to tell them they were an All Star or DPOY because ha ha, no one answers the phone for numbers we don’t have saved in our phones and no one had Cathy saved in their phone because… she doesn’t reach out to players.

Increase the players revenue split and eliminate the internal revenue target

I wonder if there will be a scenario where Portland sports fans can buy Thorns and Fire tickets in one package. Choose games that don’t overlap, and commit folks to five of each (or something) over the course of the season(s).
ericamauter.com
Someone should pass that 2016 proposal around again.

And I do see the challenge in a ref committing to exclusively working the WNBA given the current length of the season. But there are plenty of other investments that can be made now, and you know eventually they will want to lengthen the season.
