Brewers have to score at least 4 more here, right? Because if this game doesn’t end in an Ohtani walk-off then what in the Roy Hobbs are we even doing?

I often think about how lucky I am to exist at a time when we all get to watch Shohei Ohtani. He hit that last one so hard I went out on my balcony. Just in case.

‘I had an onion tied to my belt, as was the style at the time’ is still a reference to the storytelling of older people, only now it is referenced only by older people, often as a part of their own onion-belt story.

This is a weirdly specific but also weirdly cool stat.
8+ shutout innings, 12+ K in a potential Oct. elimination game:

Joe Coleman, Tigers, 9 IP, 14 K, 1972 ALCS
Cam Schlittler, Yankees, 8 IP, 12 K, tonight

That’s all, folks

I wonder if, in certain settings, baseball hitters don’t like extending at-bats with a lot of fouls. Like if they’re facing a pitcher the whole team has scouted well and your teammates want him in there as long as possible because they think they can hit him?

Victoire is an objectively good name for a hockey team. Idea for PWHL - whoever knocks the Victoire out of the playoffs gets to call themselves Victoire & take over the name. Until they get beaten by another team the following year, & so on. Charge is good, just Victoire suggests something specific.
