Real GDP rose 4.3% (annualized) last quarter, driven mainly by consumer spending, with help from government and net exports, while investment weighed slightly.

After adding ~240k jobs in the year ending Mar 2024, construction employment growth has slowed, more so since early 2025. Finishing trades shed ~11k jobs over the past year, while losses among foundation and exterior contractors have increased since May, consistent with softer demand.

Headline inflation held steady at 2.6 percent in July, while core inflation edged up to 2.9 percent.

Notably, goods prices, which had been easing inflation in 2024, have shifted to once again adding upward pressure.
