Yes, I know the ones. It's a spin-off of my PC game Melkhior's Mansion, which was inspired by the ZX Spectrum games from Ultimate Play The Game. It was a kinda mashup of Atic Atac and Knight Lore.

No it's all done with 2D graphics. For my PC projects, like Melkhior's Mansion, I do use pixel shaders for fast masking, but whether shaders are used or not, the technique is the same. All inspired of course by those Filmation games. Loved them. 🙂

Hard to say really without knowing how Ultimate did it, but I do know that Knight Lore isn't perfect, there are ways to move objects that create rendering problems. I developed my own technique, it's documented here: www.bitglint.co.uk/Iso/default....
