I heard similar things from the Chinese students at uni. Several of them mentioned a lot of people back home didn't seem to know or care much about what was happening in the rest of the world.
Which, unsurprisingly, these students in Utah in English language programs found deeply frustrating.

There are of course multiple reasons for this, but I think one of them is just size/dominance.
If you're Estonian, you *know* how much bigger the world is. How much of it is outside your country and language.
If you're American, there's enough here to keep you occupied unless you want to look.

I'd just let it gray naturally. I think the variegation that way looks good and I'd go well with your complexion.

I'm not trad, but anything modern is a tough sell when I've got "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and "All Creatures of our God and King" that I could be singing instead.

On it's certainly about violence, but it's also devoid of taste. There are ways you could glorify violence that have, or at least attempt to, have a certain level of aesthetic quality.
