A real piece of work in progress. Comics and music and wrestling and soccer and nature and, look, probably family stuff. Almost Toronto. (he, him)

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

Yeah, same… except I was in university and listening to, rather than playing in, bands.

Not a Swampy guy myself, but I will extend to you my thoughts and prayers in this fraught time and hope for the best.

You’re ALSO hoping they announce a new edition of that Brave Old World miniseries by William Messner Loebs and Guy Davis that I always keep forgetting I am desperate to read?!

This short clip quickly summarizes why I think so much non-Kirby, non-Simonson, non-Ukazu New Gods falls absolutely flat for me.

(Also: read her Barda and her Flip right now; both so good.)

I can only talk about New Gods at 10mph or 100mph, and I have a lot of opinions on ORION. @sktchd.bsky.social

IT WAS SO GOOD. Besides a coming-out party for Yuto, it made Yuya finally look like a well-rounded killer. They really played well off of each other and there were so many "oh shit, was that stiff? was that a receipt? are they just great sellers? who cares i love this!" moments.

An aptly named #Razorbill nests in the Gulf of Maine. 🕊

Photographed this summer during #breeding season these sharp beaks were a sight to behold! They could rack up several fish on a single dive to feed their chicks on the chilly #coastal waters off #Cutler, #Maine 🪶
A head shot of a Razorbill bird found off the coast of Maine. It has sharp striped beak agape, and a white stripe leading to it's eye on an otherwise all black head.

I continue to also enjoy Zack, Fujita, Despe… even Gabe. New Japan Pro Wrestling continues to get my yen-converted-by-PayPal monthly, I guess. (Even looking forward to World Tag League because of the Knockout Brothers?! What a world in which we live…) 🤼

Slight recency bias maybe (I watched this literally two minutes ago), but I absolutely loved this match… may have single-handedly rekindled my interest in wrestling? Quietly screamed on couch most of the time. Yuto-Ice rules; he made Uemura look better/more compelling than anyone else Yuya’s faced.

Yuya Uemura vs Yuto-Ice

This match may be a preview of a major IWGP Tag Team Championship match, but for Yuto-Ice, it means even more. It was against Yuya Uemura that Yuto suffered a major elbow injury that put his young career in jeopardy. Will he exact revenge tonight?

I reread LSH 5YL two years ago and it held up for me. Aside from it being dark, I think the biggest complaints about it I see are (a) that it’s too dense and complex; and (b) that it hurtles toward conclusions that you can’t undo for the next creative team or whatever and to both of these I say
a man is holding a microphone and making a funny face .
Alt: Donald glover, holding a microphone, pauses and says “good” with a look that is defiant and challenging
