You know the one. Or maybe you don't? IDC, not my problem.

Hell, would the average church-goer define their church/belief in those terms? No? Then it's not a "basic definition of Christianity."

fwiw, I view the Trinitarian vs non-Trinitarian argument as differences of degree, and not a wholesale rejection of each others' definition of God/Christianity, especially because, as I said, it's not made explicit in the Bible

What is your opinion of the "no true Scotsmen" fallacy?

Arguing that only those present at Nicaea, already centuries into lived Christian faith and practice, got the final say on what defines once and for all what Christianity *is* is just bias.

I grant you that most mainstream theologians are Trinitarians, but the concept itself is—while not extra-Biblical, per se—not made explicit in the Bible, so therefore it is not the most basic definition of Christianity as it would exclude way too many people who hold Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Article I of Mormon faith: "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." I grant you that the Mormons are non-Trinitarian, but so were many early sects that preceded the Council of Nicaea and many that followed.

For real. Every time I hear other Christians explain how Mormonism is fundamentally different I can usually point to another Christian sect that does/believes similar things. See also: bsky.app/profile/erik...
As a person raised Mormon, it's always so funny to me when other Christians act like Mormons aren't because they have their own scripture/prophets when most Christians firmly believe that aspects of their faith made up by St. Augustine or Dante are from the Bible.

What is that very basic definition of Christianity?

If I'm being serious, evolutionary biology and psychology are two different fields, and your post was unclear as to which you mean. Further, both (but more often ev. psych) have a huge problem with researchers revealing their own biases about how ideas of gender developed/function, usu. w/o evidence

I love* having an opposition leader that regularly gets his framing from his putative opposition.
