Am I losing my mind, or did gedit used to do context based highlighting for most languages based on file extension, without having to set highlighting mode manually?
Also I could've sworn there was a was to do highlighting for assembly code before. 🤔

It's telling that if you make any search related to LLM issues, all the top results will without fail be the most join-my-crypto-ponzi-scheme looking mediocre white dudes you've ever seen. This bubble is so ready to pop.

TL; DR
In the next 5 business days you should be able to go to Link's page on blacksky.community and see his posts and he'll be able to post but people using the bsky mobile apps won't see it.
After that we'll get Blacksky-only posts up.
After that we can talk about purging bsky mod tools

⚠️BREAKING ⚠️ 25+ arrests have been made violently by police, who are facilitating the business of war and genocide in Te Pae right now. We, the people, say NO to the aerospace military industrial complex. We, the people, say NO MORE WAR IN OUR NAME. #nzpol #nz #peaceactivism

Main thing he's missing is the wealth and power to make his fantasies a reality.
At time of writing.

That's so frustrating! This is barely smaller than my current (rented) flat, which we've been in long enough that — with a more reasonable deposit — we could've had something like this very nearly paid off.

Actually, I think the far-right is accurately identifying an existential issue.

So many of the most vehement far-right were either heavily bullied or did the bullying.

Teaching empathy to the next generation is fundamentally at odds with conservative political philosophy.

That's why they hate it.

wtf is wrong with these people
NYT: A Campaign to 'Bring Back Bullying'

On social media, some are arguing that bullying deserves a second look. Trolling or not, the push seems to reflect a general turn away from sensitivity.

Tonight me and my whānau got to see the official mayoral portrait done by Pōneke artist, Clark Roworth. This felt like a lovely end to this chapter with my mana intact and we will leave behind a progressive long term plan for the next council. I’m proud of of us 💚

So when we talk about “lack of diversity” in local elections, we’re (arguably) really seeing the offline consequences of online hostility.
Safer digital spaces are about the health of our democracy just as much as they are about eliminating the social attitudes that drive abuse (eg misogyny)

Whether against Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke, Ghahraman, Ardern, other MPs, Wiles, Bloomfield, & others involved in pandemic response, transgender activists, drag queens, judges, lawyers or academics - effects of doxxing are inherently harmful, & often leads to kinetic violence or vandalism.

After meeting Myanmar’s revolutionary groups and political prisoners, MPs say we must offer more than ‘nice words on paper’ and has urged the Govt to condemn upcoming “sham elections” being held by Myanmar’s military regime, saying NZ must not legitimise its efforts to claim an electoral mandate

Perhaps many millions of asthmatics (🙋🏾‍♀️) wouldn't need our inhalers if governments and corporations had actually cared about the air, the water, and the planet we live on...

They can talk to the ✋🏾 or one of the geese who live in our pond. "So, HOW did they end up with asthma in the first place?"

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

This was from way back in 2023, the same year David Seymour said someone should blow up the Ministry of Pacific Peoples

Media in those cases NEVER showed a united front to hold either man accountable.Yet they are in lockstep at the moment to spread Peters’ risible attack on the left

Why is that?
kyledchurch.bsky.social
How Peters and Seymour react when they incite political violence, btw. And there are numerous examples of them doing this.

The fact that this dichotomy exists, and that media and some politicians are buying into it, is a signal of increasing fascism, for whatever that’s worth.
Text from a 2023 Stuff article (link below)

Wright again attempted to push Peters on the issue, saying it was "bubbling over".

Peters interrupted: "No, you'll be better informed when this is over and so will the media, but you're not going to win this campaign."

On Friday, Māori leaders called for an end to dog-whistling and racial division in an open letter - which was dismissed by ACT leader David Seymour as "purely political".

Remember when social media was weaponised against a nonbinary MP so effectively they had to leave to protect themselves & their child from ongoing online violence & threats? That's political violence, too.

Where were all the calls for change? Where were the posts of "That's not okay"?

Interesting

Back when I first got here, I said something like the strength, longevity, and general experience of this place would be determined by how well and how quickly they implemented a strong culture of moderation and codes of values.

So. I was right about that.
