I've been playing death note video essays in the background the last couple of days and it's been kinda fun bc I never saw the anime but I did read the manga (when it was coming out! and again recently) but all the vids seem to be about anime only, and it's so interesting how different the exp is.

It’s really hard to describe to people who are not artists how survival mode does *not* inspire creativity, as the myth would have us believe. It suppresses creativity as you try to limit every possible risk – and the opportunities that come with them.
