On the October cover of "Ecological Applications": bright green ribbons of filamentous algae line the banks of California's Klamath River. A new study links the river's metabolism to its plants & algae, helping forecast its health as 4 large dams come down

The October cover of "Frontiers in Ecology & the Environment" highlights a study that challenges long-held assumptions about salmonid migrations: Turns out, juvenile fish don’t always stick to their natal rivers...

Seeing your own research in the news is a crazy experience! We found that lethal control is not an effective strategy and coyotes are probably just the new normal. Amazing how an article can turn a lengthy study into a sound bite 😅

Coyote populations rebound faster than can be removed, UGA study says
Coyotes in the Atlanta metro? Removing them permanently may not be possible.

🦋📉 Insects are vanishing even from untouched mountain regions. A 20-year Colorado study shows a 70% drop in flying insects, driven by rising summer temps. Climate change is hitting biodiversity hotspots hard. 🌡️🌍 #ClimateCrisis #Biodiversity #Insects

Long‐term decline in montane insects under warming summers
Widespread declines in the abundance of insects portend ill-fated futures for their host ecosystems, all of which require their services to function. For many such reports, human activities have dire...

Excited to share our new paper in @esajournals.bsky.social Ecology! ❄️
Our 17-year study shows that even moderate winter events (rain-on-snow, melt-feeze) can negatively influence lemming winter reproduction and population growth. 🐹
