Prosecuting Attorney for Washtenaw County, Michigan. Democratic candidate, Michigan Attorney General.
BREAKING: The Trump Administration has filed an “emergency” appeal of a court order requiring it to pay SNAP benefits.

And just now, we’ve joined over 80 local governments & officials in filing a brief urging the continuation of those benefits. /1

If you’ve got local elections today, get out and vote!

Friends, we have a fundraising deadline TOMORROW. Because I don’t take corporate PAC checks, it means I’m spending basically every moment—even in the car—calling human beings to ask them to chip into our campaign.

If you can help out, link is in comments below 👇🏻.

This morning, I was honored to receive the Frank Kelley Consumer Advocacy Award from the Michigan Bar's Consumer Law Section.

Named for Frank Kelley (who served 10 terms as Michigan AG) the award's presented annually in recognition of outstanding efforts to protect consumers. /1

Ball don’t lie! I’ve never taken a dime in corporate PAC contributions—and I won’t.

And it includes multiple community leaders.

Leaders in the civil-rights and gun-violence prevention spaces. Clergy. And leaders both within our party and communities who are working to make our state a better place. /4
September 10, 2025 at 4:59 PM
It also includes dozens of local electeds—mayors, city councilmembers, and county and township elected officials. /3
September 10, 2025 at 4:58 PM
Among others, our coalition includes nearly two dozen current and former state legislators from across the state. /2

I’m so honored to have the support of 100+ elected and community leaders from across Michigan. /1

Today, SCOTUS allowed the government to seize those who look Latino, speak Spanish/accented English, & work a (legal!) low-wage job.

More litigation ahead. But this decision—& what it allows—is repulsive to our Constitution & freedom. It'll be remembered as such for generations.

We’re facing unprecedented threats to due process & civil liberties at the federal level. And so it was my honor to join Rep. Carrie Rheingans, Sheriff Alyshia Dyer, & advocates and legislators from across Michigan to introduce the #DefendMIFreedoms package of bills in the Legislature. (1/2)

Proud to stand with striking Teamsters 332 nurses at Henry Ford Genesys today.

And it bears emphasis (on Labor Day!) they’re striking for us all. They’re fighting not just for fair working conditions, but for safe nurse-to-patient ratios—so those needing medical treatment can get care they deserve.
September 1, 2025 at 10:54 PM
Happy Labor Day! There’s never been a more important time to stand with working families—or the unions fighting for economic justice for us all.

Proud to walk with AFT Michigan in today’s Detroit Labor Day parade, and to stand with labor today and every day.

Right now, the government’s holding hearings on a Trump proposal that could eliminate climate regulation in the US.

State AGs can—& must—fight back. I will. I’ll fight to stop Trump’s EPA from toppling the first domino to end climate action. And I’ll fight at every step to protect our future.

Is your rent too damn high? It might not be “just the market”—it could be collusion.

As Attorney General, I can’t bring housing prices down by myself. What I can do—and I will—is make sure that nobody’s unlawfully jacking up rents higher than they should be.

Corporations shouldn’t be allowed to jack prices up based on who people are—or what they’re going through.

Yet companies are shifting to AI price models that could do just that.

Not on my watch. As AG, I’ll use every legal tool to ensure the price remains the price, for everyone.

Wage theft is the single biggest source of theft in the United States.

Thanks to For The Sake of the Argument for having me on their podcast this week to talk about it!

In case folks were concerned, a generous friend Venmo-ed me $$ so I could keep purchasing Diet Mountain Dew.

So that’s taken care of! If you were debating between subsidizing my Yellow 5 consumption or contributing to our AG campaign—the latter! Midnight deadline: secure.actblue.com/donate/7_17_...

When I say I’m not taking a dime of corporate PAC money, I mean it. Not now, not ever.

That means a lot of time on the phones—having conversations & raising funds from REAL people.

The fundraising deadline is tomorrow, so please consider contributing today!

Important: I’m not taking a dime in corporate PAC money in my campaign for Michigan Attorney General.

State AGs are supposed to stand up to powerful interests when they violate the law. But across the nation, we’ve seen corporate campaign cash distort that calculus.

Watch for more.

Before the courtroom, I was in the classroom. I was a public-school teacher—teaching 8th grade general-ed & special-ed classes.

I believed then (as now) that the right to education is fundamental. As AG, I’ll fight for that right, and for every child’s opportunity to thrive.

Solidarity with nurses & staff at OPEIU Local 40, who are striking for safe staffing levels at McLaren Macomb. Proud to join them on the picket line—because they’re fighting for us, too.

Inadequate staffing levels, after all, compromise patient health. And all of us, at some point, will get sick.
