I will raise my hand and swear on my cat that my only motivation for suggesting this is helping people preserve as much personal history as possible: we run no advertising and have no investors to care about metrics, so us hosting your backup does nothing but COST us (a very tiny bit of) money.

I am very, very conscious of how it looks for me to be saying this, because I own and operate a direct competitor to LJ, but: I strongly suspect, from all these signals, that Sberbank is preparing to either sell the outside-Russia part of LJ if they can find a buyer, or shut it down if they can't.

Oh, this is fun. Halifax Water's rates are going up so much now because they burned surpluses to keep the rates artificially low instead of using those surpluses to invest in needed infrastructure, so now we're catching up to 2020 and 2022's lack of investment.
