We need gas to get more expensive. Remember when the premier took a huge chunk of the gas tax off the pump price?

Only problem now is that electrics are following suit - you can get PHEVs and even full blown electric monstrosities now too… not sure we have a way out with those…

Funny how when a person is killed in traffic, according to the Post it’s the “car” that did it but when anyone comes along to make streets safer it’s an attack on “drivers.”

Were it not for the free money during COVID and massive immigration into our post secondary colleges and service sector, it would’ve been plainly clear that Canada has been in a recession for the better part of 5 years. Real estate does not make for a stable economy. Not that oil is much better…

There’s no path to prosperity without tackling corporate greed.
There’s also no path to oil independence without giving up cars.
Building this pipeline gives the illusion of growth and prosperity in one of Canada’s few growth sectors: resource extraction.

Five years ago I would’ve cheered the expansion of our oil transport capacity. Now, I’m not so sure. Realistically, unless we’re refining it here, it’s a band-aid at best. The world continues to demand petroleum products and will do so for as long as climate systems don’t kill us.

Not gonna lie, Canada is pretty broke. So is most of the western world. We complain about crumbling institutions, expensive housing and weak economic prospects. These are the same complaints of the Dutch.
We’ve hit a capitalist/globalized wall. This just slows the bleeding for a few more years…

Now we just need somebody to ask Ford about this!
