I kinda feel like I need to preface any post that isn’t outraged at the state of the world with: “Listen, things are really, really bad. Probably worse than we know. But dammit, if I can’t also have this other fun or unserious or unrelated-to-current-crisis tanget, I don’t think we’re gonna make it”

The 🇨🇦 government is looking to amend & pass sweeping surveillance legislation. Minister, you might want to have an opinion.
‘Canada is not Minnesota,’ minister says in reaction to U.S. immigration raids
Ottawa removed more than 22,000 people last year "in a compassionate and humane manner," said the public safety minister.

Some in South Minneapolis have created what they call “filter blockades” on Cedar Ave. A handout says the roundabout like blockade is meant to bring neighbors together to strategize against ICE while also identifying traffic coming into the area.

Yes, we had a major snow event.

Yes, the city is triaging, and many sidewalks in particular still need work.

But it's been a week and arterial bikeways are remain unrideable and worse appear to be dumping grounds for snow-clearing.

What's the plan, Toronto?

Shawn Micallef: Toronto has been mocked for its reluctance to embrace winter. This snowstorm may have buried that cliche
It’s almost as if the pandemic, which forced us outdoors, has given us permission to final enjoy winter.

Toronto cyclists have been patient as the city digs out from a historic snowfall. Reducing this to cyclists versus drivers versus pedestrians misses the point. That narrative is tired and unhelpful. This is about making sure everyone can get around efficiently and safely.

Uber Eats, Fantuan & HungryPanda broke the law — shortchanging workers while raking in profits.

Today, we secured $5M+ in restitution for 49,000 delivery workers.
