Amazing to see Australian researchers leading the way globally on groundbreaking medical research!

Congratulations to Richard Scolyer and Georgina Long for leading the way with courage and resolution on innovative brain cancer therapies.

if we're insane thoughts; mine is that people are already telepathic but it's only line of sight and someone who you've had 10 or more serious conversations with.0
I think more people should keep their insane thoughts to themselves.

the only good nimbyism
new from me: it's interesting that one of the biggest roadblocks we're seeing to ICE buying up warehouses to convert into modern day concentration camps for detained immigrants is conservative NIMBYs (non-derogatory, for once) saying "not here, thanks"
Opinion | ICE’s warehouse detention centers run up against NIMBYism
A surprising number of Republican communities are coming out against the idea of ICE deportation facilities in their backyards.

Hot take:

I'm seeing so many stories of people using AI for writing and being "blown away" by what it produces.

I don't think they're "blown away" by the quality. I think they're "blown away" at seeing their own ideas rendered in readable prose for the first time. (thread)

one the best things my HS english teacher did for me was march us through so many many great american autobiographies and among all of them, Douglass was the one who really got the weight of the constitution and its promises.

genuinely curious if there is another modern institution with the density of people, tightness of timing and expectation of achievement (ish). (maybe the army? and hospitals?)

'k

every few years we have to transition a home school kid into our school system and it is always a hot mess.

because for better or worse, schools get very good at helping people do things in large groups and across synchronized time tables.

home-school kids literally can't go with the flow.

The Jones Act raises costs and distorts maritime markets without delivering the shipbuilding it promised. For Maryland, repealing it would mean more port activity and real opportunities for new maritime jobs. Thank you, Bad Bunny, for highlighting the impacts of this harmful, obsolete law.
