If you are a woman or female presenting in the Valley look out for a man with glasses and this plate. Took it off a TikTok video in which LITERALLY HUNDREDS of women reported him asking for help moving a box from his backseat to his trunk with a fake bandage around his arm, something Ted Bundy did.

Many years ago I did a show called Sagas of Sundry.

It was immersive horror, great storytelling, and reality show style skill challenges.

Now I want to bring it back, but call it Tales of Dread.

But I need your help. So I'm taking this project to Kickstarter.

- called for me to stop the fiction and point them out every time I did a thing, which was every 2 seconds.

Because so much of my play is in actual play, I often also think about how long it takes for someone who is proficient with the system to (A) make a roll/check/move/etc or (B) resolve it.
estelofimladris.bsky.social
- that in the fiction of the game/world/etc I should either just be able to do or should mechancially benefit from.

I recently played a game where I did everything the playbook was written to do and derived zero benefit from any of it because the mechanics -
estelofimladris.bsky.social
My broader feeling on this tends to revolve around when the mechanics and the fiction (or pacing of said fiction) do not match, which unfortunately I see happen often.

Systems being used out of context tend to have this, but I've also seen it when there's too many mechanics for something simple -
estelofimladris.bsky.social
Simplified example:

"every time you use your sword, you gain +1 of an expendable resource" in a game where there is narrative incentive to use your sword. That is the invitation to do the damn thing the game is written for, and hopefully that the story serves.
estelofimladris.bsky.social
For me it's about how much or how little friction there is between fiction and mechanics.

For me its when mechanics invite choices into the fiction that illustrate something I'd naturally be inclined to as a player or mechanically encourage me to do in service of both the fiction and the mechanics.

The term fallen from grace would be an understatement for this once great warrior of old. Exiled into these realms of chaos for defying the emperor, but worry not, as The Exalted never waste a good sword.

Introducing Caedra👼, who the phenomenal Syriinx (@syriinx.bsky.social) will be playing!
A faded red-painted background depicts a ruined brick wall. On the left side of the wall lie the spray-painted colors of teal and blood red, in the shape of a pair of wings with hands reaching towards a lone star.

On top of this graffiti lies the Image of a muscular built warrior wearing a variety of reds, yellows, and greens, with the most distinct part of her clothes being her dirty steel armor. The warrior's lightly tanned and freckled complexion matches their strange eyes, which are their own colors. Above her head lies a set of glowing text that reads:

Caedra

On the right of the wall is a dirty bronze bulletin board with a ring of red swirling energy with a set of text that reads:

"The First Hellrasier"
Caedra (she/any) was once the Empire's greatest triumph, created through trial and error. A god in the making until an act of mercy unmade her. Cast out she now endures as both traitor and legend.

Finally, on the bottom right lies an antique picture of the performer with a card that reads:

Syriinx (@syriinx)

The Last Hope logo is in the bottom left corner, alongside two laurels on the right hand side that read: "WINNER. Best Actual Play Video. Sydney Web Fest 2025." and "WINNER. SWF Award for Diversity. today, on the 2-year anniversary of Israel escalating its genocide in Palestine, we'd like to remind folks that the genocide did not start on Oct. 7, 2023. the Palestinian people have been experiencing a settler-colonial occupation and genocide since the Nakba in 1948. that is 77 years too many.

WE ARE LIVE WITH OUR PREMIERE!

The armies of the Dark Tree are on the move. Middle-earth will fall. And all that stands between the Reunited Kingdom and its ruin is a fellowship of six. But in the face of such shadow, is hope enough...?

See you in chat!
Aerlind, a tall and handsome Elf with warm-toned, fair skin. He has deep black, straight hair that cascades down his back in a gentle wave, tied back with braids. He has monolid, warm amber eyes. He wears smart, finely made elven robes and leather armour in shades of sea blues and greens. A bow is slung over his shoulder, and in his hand he carries a golden astrolabe. He stands against a wide and warm coastline.

In front of him are the words “The Fourth Age: Book Three” and “Chapter One: What May Be Preserved.”
