I’m very superstitious, only try to make this CRITICAL change one time per heating/cooling season.

Doron’s been doing this indispensable work for years. Call it a gift, call it a curse, @doronclark.bsky.social could spot a Proud Boy sticker or other bigoted graffiti like a hawk while we were out running. And of course we’d endeavor to remove it.

Thank you for cleaning this shit up, you two.

Tonight a resident posted a picture of racist and Islamaphobic language written on Johnson street that called for @omarfatehmn.com to be deported and wished death upon the Somali community. @doronclark.bsky.social and I showed up right away to get this racist garbage off of our streets

Pretty awesome that our esteemed business leaders will take any opportunity to shriek publicly “hostile environment!” at the suggestion of fair labor practices, etc but when actual cold hard cash is taken from their coffers by the Trump admin we hear….crickets

No more pennies at Kwik Trip as company adopts new 'cash rounding' policy
Kwik Trip announced it will no longer accept pennies months after the U.S. Department of Treasury announced it would end penny production.

That’s just an unreal story
The university gave her an honorary doctorate in 1997. It also hosted her in a dormitory for faculty priests for almost a year during a mold abatement project at her Lake Harriet home.
The Rev. Dennis Dease, the university's president at the time, worried how the elderly priests would handle a vivacious, fashionable female roommate. But Fiterman hit it off with them: They carried her groceries, swapped stories about her in the cafeteria and "just fell in love with her," Dease said.

Unpopular opinion. I wish 335 had been built. It would have helped the bottle neck at Lowry tunnel

It seems this delusion can be applied to ANY politician regardless of stripe. We’ve become so accustomed to “do nothing” politics, electing people with grand plans (good or bad) inevitably will become uncomfortable for the comfortable class.

Imagine watching politicians do the things on which they campaigned and being upset with those politicians. Payne and Moriarty really come to mind.

You don’t need to make up some fraudulent story how they lied to you! Maybe you’re the problem!
dbrauer.net
You really have to try to dislike Elliott Payne, who’s one of the most fair-minded people in City Hall, but it tells me the Kupchella crew is pretty simple about Minneapolis politics, probably just saw the “Council President” nameplate and decided to target him.

the documentary certainly an axe to grind with elliot payne…. says he “ran as a traditional democrat but has voted with the dsa members”

These punishment/fine decisions should be informed by the externalities of driving that fast. It’s SO MUCH more dangerous to operate at 40 than 30, and 30 than 20.

(Old-ish study, probably worse now that cars are taller and heavier aaafoundation.org/impact-speed...)
Results show that the average risk of severe injury for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle reaches 10% at an impact speed of 16 mph, 25% at 23 mph, 50% at 31 mph, 75% at 39 mph, and 90% at 46 mph.
The average risk of death for a pedestrian reaches 10% at an impact speed of 23 mph, 25% at 32 mph, 50% at 42 mph, 75% at 50 mph, and 90% at 58 mph. Risks vary significantly by age. For example, the average risk of severe injury or death for a 70-year old pedestrian struck by a car traveling at 25 mph is similar to the risk for a 30-year-old pedestrian struck at 35 mph.

There are a lot of negligent landlords funding conservative candidates this election, but few have a resume as deep and troubling as “California Trailer Park King” Brian Fitterer.

He’s made a half million dollar donation to Trump - and hundreds to Jacob Frey, Lydia Millard and Elizabeth Shaffer.
ethankomoroski.bsky.social
Just want to note this is the same guy with the enormous tear down and boulder wall on Cedar Lake.

Sure interesting the guy who got a variance to develop public land maxed out a donation to a park board member.

This is a nice working paper showing that traffic noise creates a pretty large externality. Near major roads, people are willing to pay ~6-10% more for homes after a sound barrier is built.

They estimate that traffic noise has an aggregate externality of $110 billion!

This is exactly what I think of when our Park Board votes to keep a parking lot over developing public green space, paving over programming, and turns their back on labor
