Tonight a resident posted a picture of racist and Islamaphobic language written on Johnson street that called for @omarfatehmn.com to be deported and wished death upon the Somali community. @doronclark.bsky.social and I showed up right away to get this racist garbage off of our streets
Pretty awesome that our esteemed business leaders will take any opportunity to shriek publicly “hostile environment!” at the suggestion of fair labor practices, etc but when actual cold hard cash is taken from their coffers by the Trump admin we hear….crickets

It seems this delusion can be applied to ANY politician regardless of stripe. We’ve become so accustomed to “do nothing” politics, electing people with grand plans (good or bad) inevitably will become uncomfortable for the comfortable class.
You really have to try to dislike Elliott Payne, who’s one of the most fair-minded people in City Hall, but it tells me the Kupchella crew is pretty simple about Minneapolis politics, probably just saw the “Council President” nameplate and decided to target him.
These punishment/fine decisions should be informed by the externalities of driving that fast. It’s SO MUCH more dangerous to operate at 40 than 30, and 30 than 20.

This is a nice working paper showing that traffic noise creates a pretty large externality. Near major roads, people are willing to pay ~6-10% more for homes after a sound barrier is built.
They estimate that traffic noise has an aggregate externality of $110 billion!
This is exactly what I think of when our Park Board votes to keep a parking lot over developing public green space, paving over programming, and turns their back on labor
