A speech that is more timely now than ever.

-True Manliness by James T. Clark
I guess I need to play more Remedy games. Have only played the first Alan Wake. I own the sequel and Control but have yet to start either of them. With the sequel to Control on the horizon I need to get my butt in gear.

Why even announce now? Odd.
Last night's biggest surprise was Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, led by Casey Hudson, who directed KOTOR (and Anthem). Exciting news for lots of people... but Lucasfilm says the studio was founded this year, which means that 2030 is an *optimistic* guess. Maybe it'll be a PlayStation 7 game

Yes. Also a great reminder that everything is inspired from something else.
Everyone needs to listen to Gustav Holst's "The Planets", not for hoity-toity nerd reasons, but because every epic sci-fi movie OST for the past century has been directly lifting shit from this one specific collection of pieces, and you deserve to hear your favourite motif in its native environment.

The Game Awards is a bloated, grotesque commercial masquerading as an award show.

A year from now you'll remember maybe 3 of the dozens of games that burned millions upon millions of dollars to be glossed over at a "prestige" commercial montage.

I sincerely hope it dies like E3.

Buy indie games.

Just like in film an artist is much more creative when they have less to work with. Bigger budgets do not equate to better quality. Most AAA games these days are soulless commodities.
'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33' budget was less than $10M.

"It borrowed an old formula for role-playing games, with beautifully rendered levels that are essentially large corridors and characters who are transported to a battle arena when they collide with enemies."
