just like a certain once-beloved book series, I have to move on from this, but it still hurts. I'm glad the demise of the org hasn't dulled my desire to write, though I dearly miss the community that built up over the years, and I hope we writers can find each other again.

Of course I know what took the organization down. You don't have to tell me. I wasn't involved with any of it, despite being a volunteer. I can't help but feel a little depressed about having something that was a large part of my online identity for two decades+ fall apart.

Instead, I participated in the Star Wars Rare Pair Exchange, where I wrote a tailored fic for my recipient (the works aren't revealed yet, so I can't tell you about it for a few weeks). I wrote several different works that people will actually get to read, instead of the drafts I never finish.

Art is an act of hope. Writing is an act of rebellion. The world will always need more stories--from real human beings, not bullshit plagiarism machines. Every book is a love story from the author, and every reader is fighting the war against cruelty, ignorance, and hopelessness. We are fighting.

I don't mind kale, though usually I end up using spinach in my recipes because it can be hard to find. I also prefer it when it's not so "angry" and has been massaged with, say, avocado and sprinkled with salt and pepper and lemon juice for a pretty good salad.
