Young men more likely to vote Green than Reform. Young men second most progressive group of any demographic. Combined right-wing vote barely bigger than Green vote alone for young men

Totally agree with this sentiment. *But* I would get many academics (not OP) to ask themselves: Does their assessment structure facilitate this process? Or does it simply assess the end product and thus render mistakes and struggles too risky (from the perspective of increasingly time poor cohorts)?

My statement on Ai from the mini-comic as syllabus i made for new class I'm teaching that starts tomorrow! It robs you of your decisions & struggles - and the joy of being surprised. We won’t to be robbed of our learning - this is essential. This & the full mini at post:

a snippet of a mini-comic, at top - straight line stretches from point A to B. Immediately below, same dot at A, then becomes a curving, meandering line that winds through the page and ends at a point with rays and a question mark emanating from it. Text reads: "Nothing can do this for you - for that robs you of experience and conflates answers with learning. Rather, it's all the decisions you make along the way, the mistakes, struggles, and surprises! These pathways you create - this is learning.

We will never tackle the AI 'issue', if we do not understand the wider context from which it is emergent

There is something strangely appealing about du Choul's drawings of figures on Trajan's Column ...
Engraving from du Choul's 1554 volume Discovrs Sur La Castrametation Et Discipline Militaire Des Romains depicting two legionaries on the march, based on the helical frieze on Trajan's Column.

Yes! For instance, I am tentatively excited about Google Aeneas, which uses existing human-coded databases of 250K ancient Roman inscriptions to help predict missing fragments in other inscriptions. This uses computers' superior quantitative capabilities to supplement epigraphers' expert knowledge.

Any proposal for using AI needs to answer 2 fundamental questions:

1. What is the problem we're trying to solve?
2. Is AI the right tool for solving it?

I have yet to see a single proposal that starts with these. Instead they start with "stusents are using them anyway" or "inevitable"
