Councilor Morillo @pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social is a beacon of light leading us toward the Portland I want to live in. So of course, sadly, there are some who want to to keep us from that hopeful future. Please join me in generously supporting her campaign.
Reflecting on my first year as a city councilor, and I’m so proud of what my team and I have accomplished, and we’re just getting started.

I banned rental price fixing, created fees for landlords who want to profit off detention facilities (like ICE)

This year Angelita Morillo has gotten so much good, humane policy passed that capital is having brain hemorrhages and lining up a bunch of awful people and some really dirty lies to try to make her stop. She’s one of our best posters and brutal in replies but needs cash to run again so kick her some

Beaverton is not just a suburb - it is where so much industry and diversity and innovation is happening. Its city council needs dynamic and innovative advocates, and I just donated to one. If you can, you should, too.

Trans people and gender-affirming care are being threatened everywhere in the US every single day. Oregon is the queerest state in the country, yet we have never elected an out trans woman to office.

I want to change that.

Let’s change who’s in the room when these discussions happen, one by one.
Sarah McBride put out a fundraising post on her Instagram specifically denouncing Republicans for trying to ban gender-affirming health care for trans people. It's probably one of the most forceful statements I've read from her.

TIL Japan built the bullet train before California built the 5 freeway.

The best time to build a high speed rail line was 20 years ago, the second best time to build one is today.

We are tremendously lucky that Beaverton has the public transportation options that it does to ensure that folks can go out to one of our amazing bars on New Years Eve and not have to worry about driving home.

Oregon and its cities are not allowed to deficit spend. If costs rise higher than income—which is essentially guaranteed due to Measures 5 & 50–then we end up with endless financial crises.
states can’t borrow like the federal government can, and many state constitutions require the budget be balanced every year. now, add all the financial pressures from ACA, the BBB’s SNAP/medicaid cuts, withheld disaster funds, lower tax revenue from a sputtering economy… yeah, it’s bad
NEW with @natsfert.bsky.social: Some states are spending hundreds of millions to make up for federal cuts to Obamacare aid. They warn it won't be enough to stop millions of people from becoming uninsured. www.politico.com/news/2025/12...

if you haven't already, go throw a couple bucks to the reelection campaigns of Mitch Green, Angelita Morillo and Tiffany Koyama-Lane.

If you're a portland resident the public match program means even donating $25 to each is a huge boost; we need all three of them to stay on council this next fall

Drivers are never asked to justify their infrastructure, but bicyclists (and pedestrians) are constantly forced to defend why their infrastructure is "necessary"
Bike lane with low traffic is often considered unnecessary and underutilized.

Car lane with low traffic is considered luxurious.

Figuring out how to get more trains from Portland to Salem runs into a bottleneck on the Inner Eastside. If only there were another metro area city that could serve as a transit node--maybe one with tracks already in place connecting it to Salem--without this problem!
All I want for Christmas is this.
